Deaf Woman Can Hear Again But Mother-In-Law Has No Clue Ellen Knows The Truth About Her Actions

For the majority of her life, wife and mother Sarah Churman has been completely deaf. Born lacking the hairs which absorb sound waves inside the ears, Churman never knew the sound of her own voice or that of her husband and two children.

In 2011, the 29-year-old was excited to learn about a new implant on the market that could help her. She was all for trying it out. The only problem? It cost $30,000 per ear, and her insurance wouldn’t cover it. Her hopes of being able to hear for the first time began to fade.

That’s when her mother-in-law stepped in with an incredible offer Churman couldn’t refuse. Her mother-in-law was by no means rich; in fact, she had to cash in her small retirement fund to pay for the procedure. However, she insists her daughter-in-law is worth it. “Sarah is the best daughter-in-law in the world,” she said.

When Churman finally received her long-awaited implant, the video of her hearing for the first time immediately went viral, and it’s not hard to see why.

It even caught the attention of Ellen Degeneres, who later invited Churman and her family to appear on “The Ellen Show.” But Degeneres had much more up her sleeve than just discussing with Churman how her life has changed since receiving the implant.

Not only did Degeneres surprise Churman with the news that Envoy Medical Corporation – the company that supplied Sarah with the original implant – would be covering the cost of her next procedure, but she also gave the family a $30,000 check to pay her mother-in-law back!

Watch the emotional exchange unfold as Degeneres makes the family’s lives much easier. They couldn’t ask for a better gift!
